Almost A VIP Lounge At Velana International Airport

Lounge service included in the package is available for maximum of 3 hours and we never reached that limit as transfer to resorts takes place quickly. But, departure experience is different. Even though occurrence is rare there are times guests have to wait more than 3 hours in airport. Check-in to lounge starts 3 hours ahead of international flight time. Officially it is a restaurant but the conditions are not so different from a lounge, except seats being of a dining setup rather than lounging. There is an outdoor terrace offering wide-angle view of the lagoon and ocean. Terrifyingly huge waves often bang at the house reef and this becomes an unusually impressive view for guests in the rooftop restaurant. The alternative lounge option is almost like an attraction that deserves paying a visit even if you have to dedicate a slot on your itinerary.


The restaurant offers a wide variety of seafood and international dishes of different courses. Starters and main courses are usually very tasty. Fruity deserts are not recommended here as they often use canned fruits. But, other deserts like Chocolate Mousse or Tiramisu tastes great. Guests on our VIP aiport services package are requested to pay extra for their food and beverage orders.

Transfer to this alternative lounge takes only 15 minutes from airport by private vehicle that also carries baggage in the trunk. An agent from Priority Maldives accompanies the guests.


When you have extra time to spend at Velana Interantional Airport during your departure you may also have the idea of visiting capital Male' for sightseeing tour. Should you wish we would be glad to offer that. But, Male' is a busy metropolis that is very different from quiet resort life. Too many vehicles and people in the capital city often causes traffic jam. Therefore, we do not offer this as default option.

The rooftop restaurant is the perfect alternative to VIP lounge. It is located in Hulhumale' island, just a 15 minute drive from airport. Hulhumale' once was a tiny sandbank. Over several years the government reclaimed land and developed a city to address overgrowth of population in Male'. Construction of this artificial island began in 1997, after 24 years it is now bigger than Male' and accommodates about 92,000 inhabitants.
